All is set for the Raiply National Volleyball Championship, scheduled to take place from today November 8 to 10, 2024, at Katoto Ground in Mzuzu.
Speaking during a press briefing, Volleyball Association of Malawi (VAM) President Mr. James Chatonda Kaunda announced that preparations for this year’s tournament are well underway. He also disclosed that the event will be graced by Bouchra Hajij, the President of the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAV), who will attend as the guest of honor.
“We thank the Malawi of Government and Raiply Malawi for their continued support over the years. Raiply has been a loyal sponsor for nearly 20 years and has always honoured its commitments. We urge our athletes to maintain discipline, practice fair play and avoid unethical practices during the games,” said Kaunda.
“We are fortunate that the President of the Confederation of African Volleyball has committed to visit Malawi, and watch the games. She will arrive on November 7 and depart on November 11. During her stay, she will hold meetings with the Minister of Youth and Sports, the Malawi National Council of Sports, and other stakeholders, and she is very excited to be visiting Malawi.” added Kaunda
Representing Raiply Malawi’s Chief Executive Officer, the company’s Administration and Human Resource Manager, Jackson Chapuma, revealed that Raiply Malawi has doubled its sponsorship for the tournament from MWK 10 million to MWK 20 million.
“We understand that organizing an event of this scale is challenging. To ensure a smooth execution, we decided to increase our contribution to MWK 20 million. We aim to support the athletes and teams and, in the long run, to contribute to the development of volleyball in Malawi,” Chapuma explained.
Last year, Wolves emerged as champions in both the men’s and women’s categories.
