PREMIER BET MALAWI CONTRIBUTES MK7.5 MILLION TO MALAWI SPORT AWARDS.

Premier Bet Malawi has contributed MK7.5 million to the Malawi Sport Awards, scheduled to take place on February 28, 2025, at Sunbird Nkopola in Mangochi.

The cheque presentation ceremony was held today at the Malawi National Council of Sports headquarters in Blantyre.

Speaking at the event, Premier Bet’s Community Manager, Hamza Mgaye, highlighted that supporting the Malawi Sport Awards is part of the company’s commitment to giving back to the community.

“We are deeply involved in sports, and we felt it was essential to contribute as much as we can because this aligns with our goals. The Sports Council, as the umbrella body for all sports disciplines in the country, is an ideal partner, and we believe our support will help foster the development of sports in Malawi,” said Mgaye.

In his remarks, the Director of Planning, Marketing, and Infrastructure Development at the Malawi National Council of Sports, Mr. Limbani Matola, who also chairs the main organizing committee for the Malawi Sport Awards, expressed gratitude to Premier Bet Malawi for the generous donation.

“These funds will significantly enhance preparations, ensuring we host the most successful awards ceremony to date. Hosting an event of this magnitude requires substantial resources, and this support will go a long way in covering key aspects of the event,” said Matola.

This year’s awards will feature fourteen categories, including Junior Female Sportsperson of the Year (up to the age of 20), Junior Male Sportsperson of the Year (up to the age of 20), National Team of the Year, Best Executed Sports Development Programme of the Year, Sportswoman of the Year with a Disability, Sportsman of the Year with a Disability, Sportswoman of the Year, Sportsman of the Year, Coach of the Year, Sports Journalist of the Year – Print, Sports Journalist of the Year – Electronic, Sports Association of the Year, Sports Administrator of the Year and Sportsperson of the Year

The Malawi Sport Awards aim to recognize, celebrate, and reward outstanding achievements and contributions by athletes, coaches, officials, teams, and organizations that have significantly advanced the development and promotion of sports in Malawi in a sporting year.
