A total of 30 participants are undergoing a Level 3/Basic Netball Coaching Course at Monkey Bay Primary School from March 24 to 29, 2025.

The course, facilitated by Netball Association of Malawi’s Technical Director, Mr. Joseph Mazaza, and Malawi National Netball Team Head Coach, Mrs. Peace Chawinga-Kaluwa, aims to equip coaches with essential skills to develop netball teams in schools and the community.

The training has drawn 15 participants from primary and secondary schools and 15 from the local community, reflecting a strong commitment to grassroots netball development. The course covers theory sessions, practical exercises, and examinations, ensuring participants gain both knowledge and hands-on experience.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, Regional Sports Development Manager for the Southern Region, Ruth Mzengo, emphasized the importance of the training in advancing netball in Monkey Bay.

“Monkey Bay has great netball potential, and it is the wish of the Malawi National Council of Sports to see the sport grow to its full potential in this area. We believe the coaches trained here will play a key role in developing netball teams in schools and communities,” said Mzengo.

She further encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained during the training to make a tangible impact in their respective schools and communities.

The initiative aligns with efforts to strengthen grassroots netball structures across Malawi, providing aspiring coaches with the skills needed to nurture future netball stars.
