The staff members at the Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) head office underwent valuable training today on preventing corruption in the workplace.
The training was conducted by the council’s Institutional Integrity Committee (IIC) and aimed at raising awareness about the detrimental impact of corruption among MNCS staff in all regional offices.
During the training, MNCS Director of Sports and Recreation, Mrs. Ivy Chinagwa Kondowe, emphasized the importance of combating corruption in the workplace.
“As MNCS, we are part and parcel of the community and therefore we must be the first to fight against corruption to set a good example. Corruption is pervasive, even in sports, and staff members must know how to deal with it.” Explained Chinangwa Kondowe
The training session covered various topics including the MNCS Institutional Integrity Committee’s mandate, strategies for preventing and detecting corruption, an overview of corruption, and whistleblowing tools.
Additional training sessions are scheduled to take place at the Kamuzu Institute of Sports (KIS) in Lilongwe and at the OPC building in Mzuzu, where MNCS offices are located.
The facilitators of the training included Alice Mwakanandi, MNCS Internal Auditor, Charity Kayuni, MNCS administration officer, and Suzane Mbejere, MNCS human resource officer.
MNCS is of the view that these proactive efforts underscore the organization’s commitment to fostering a work environment that is free from corruption and upholding the highest standards of integrity.
