The Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS), through its Regional Sports Development Office (North), has commenced a Basic Level 1 Athletics Coaching Course at Laudon Primary School in Embangweni, Mzimba.

The week-long program, which began today, December 16, 2024, and runs until December 20, 2024, has attracted 20 participants. These include primary and secondary school teachers as well as coaches from community athletics clubs in the district.

The course focuses on equipping participants with foundational skills in running, throwing, and jumping events. The initiative aims to strengthen athletics coaching expertise within the district, ultimately contributing to the growth of grassroots athletics.

Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded certificates, recognizing their competence in coaching.

Facilitating the training are Mr. Dennis Phiri and Mr. Mike Banda, both certified instructors under the Coaching Education Certificate System (CECS) Level 2. Their expertise ensures that attendees receive professional and practical guidance throughout the course.

This initiative underscores MNCS’s commitment to fostering sports development across Malawi by empowering local coaches with the tools needed to nurture athletic talent at the community level.
