The Malawi Men’s Cricket National Team registered their third consecutive victory in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Sub-Regional Africa Qualifier A this afternoon, after a commanding 9-wicket win over Mali at the UDSM Ground in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Malawi’s Suhail Zahid Vayani was named Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance, taking 4 wickets for just 8 runs in his 4 overs. Suhail’s brilliant display with the ball played a crucial role in securing Malawi’s dominant win over Mali.
With this result, Malawi sits second in the standings with 6 points, trailing behind Tanzania, who lead the group with 6 points from three games due to a superior net run rate. Ghana is in third place with 4 points, having won two of their three matches. Cameroon follows in fourth with 2 points after one win and two losses. Lesotho is fifth, still searching for their first win, having lost all three of their matches, while Mali remains at the bottom with no points, also losing all three games played.
Malawi’s next fixture is against Cameroon tomorrow at the UDSM Ground at 1:50 PM CAT. The team will then conclude their group stage matches on Thursday with a highly anticipated showdown against hosts and tournament favorites, Tanzania, at Dar Gymkhana Club.
The Malawi National Council of Sports extends its congratulations to the Malawi Men’s Cricket national Team for their performance and for raising the Malawian flag high in the tournament.
