MALAWI FACE SENEGAL IN THE CAF BEACH SOCCER AFRICA CUP OF NATIONS

Oct 21, 2024 | News

The Malawi Beach Soccer National Team will face the defending champions Senegal this afternoon at the Hurghada Beach Soccer Arena in the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

This follows their 4-3 defeat against Mozambique in their opening match yesterday. The upcoming game against Senegal is crucial for Malawi, as they must win to have any chance of reaching the semi-finals.

In other matches in Group B yesterday, debutants Mauritania surprised the defending champions by defeating Senegal 5-2. As a result, Mauritania currently leads Group B, with Mozambique in second place on goal difference. Malawi is in third position with no points, while Senegal is at the bottom of the group with no points.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, and the finalists will secure spots at Africa’s first-ever FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in Seychelles in 2025.
