The Mzuzu City Half Marathon continues to grow in stature, attracting top athletes from across the country. This year’s edition proved to be another exciting showcase of talent and endurance.

The initiative aligns with efforts to strengthen grassroots netball structures across Malawi, providing aspiring coaches with the skills needed to nurture future netball stars.

This year’s event was held under the theme: “Celebrating Women’s Achievements, Advancing Equality, and Empowering Women in Sports – #AccelerateAction.”

The initiative aims to inspire more women to engage in sports, take on leadership roles, and break barriers in the sporting world.

With the competition heating up, a victory against Namibia would be a significant step for Malawi in their quest to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

2024 Malawi Sport Awards ” Celebrating Sporting Excellence”

The winner of this tie will face either South Africa or Egypt in the next round of the qualifiers. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw at Free State Stadium last Sunday and will meet again for the return leg on Sunday, March 9, 2025.

The donation, made using proceeds from the 2024 Blantyre 42.195 KM Race, includes a refrigerator, a wheelchair, a stretcher, and a fan, items identified as crucial for the facility’s service delivery.

The initiative is part of the Council’s broader efforts to promote sports development and nurture talent at the grassroots level.
