About Us
The Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) was established by an act of Parliament, Act No 10, of 1974, to provide oversight to the development of all sporting disciplines in Malawi.
Our Mandate
The Malawi National Council Act has however extended and specified the mandate of the sporting body corporate on among others; matters of women and sport, professional sport, sport for people with disabilities, recreational sport as well as anti-doping within the sport.
The objective of the Commission is to promote Sport within Malawi and participation of Sport outside Malawi.

Composition of the Secretariat
While the Board gives policy direction, the Secretariat is charged with operationalising policy and other day-to-day matters of the Council. The Secretariat is headed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Council and divided into five (5) main departments: the Chief Executive Officer’s Office, Sports and Recreation Development, Finance, Human Resources and Administration, and Marketing, Planning, and Infrastructure services.
THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
This is the office of the CEO of the Council, which is charged with the general direction of the organization, which includes implementation of Council’s policies and directives, promotion of the development of sport in Malawi, and also protection and promotion of optimal utilization of available resources, assets and facilities. The CEO is, as such, responsible for the general management of the organization, reporting directly to the Board.
Sports AND RECREATION Development
Finance
The Finance department is responsible for all financial matters of the Council. These include budgets, financial and management accounts, as well as general accounting to all the relevant authorities as may be necessary. The department is unique in that it reports to both the Treasurer of the Council and the CEO.

MARKETING, PLANNING AND INFRASTRUCTURE SERVICES
The Department of Marketing, Planning and Infrastructure Services at the Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) plays a vital role in supporting the strategic growth, visibility, and functionality of the Council. Its duties and responsibilities typically fall under three key areas: Marketing, Planning, and Infrastructure Services.
