The Malawi Under-20 boys’ national football team will kick off their 2024 African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 Youth Games campaign with a clash against Zimbabwe this morning at 10:00 AM at the Hage Geingob Stadium in Windhoek, Namibia.
Malawi has been drawn in Group A alongside hosts Namibia, Angola, and Zimbabwe. Group B features South Africa, Zambia, Eswatini, and Botswana. The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, the Malawi Under-20 women’s national football team will also begin their campaign today with a highly anticipated encounter against hosts Namibia at the UNAM Stadium at 2:00 PM.
The women’s team is placed in Group A, which includes Namibia, Zimbabwe, and Botswana. Group B comprises Eswatini, Angola, Zambia, and South Africa. Just like in the men’s competition, the top two teams from each group will secure a place in the semi-finals.
Both teams will be looking to start their campaigns on a high note as they aim for podium finishes at the regional youth tournament
