Flames Eye Next Round as They Face Comoros in CHAN Qualifier Return Leg

Mar 7, 2025 | News

The Malawi National Football Team, the Flames, will return to action tomorrow as they take on Comoros at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe at 14:30 hrs for the second leg of their 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier.

The Flames head into the match with a crucial advantage after securing a 2-0 victory in the first leg, played at the same venue last Saturday. Goals from Binwell Katinji and Zebron Kalima sealed the win, putting Malawi in a strong position to progress.

Despite playing at Bingu National Stadium, the Flames were officially the away team in the first leg, as Comoros had opted to host the match in Malawi due to their home stadiums being deemed unfit by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The winner of this tie will face either South Africa or Egypt in the next round of the qualifiers. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw at Free State Stadium last Sunday and will meet again for the return leg on Sunday, March 9, 2025.
