Simwaka and Mwanyali Defend Titles at 2025 National Cross-Country Championship

Asimenye Simwaka and Chikondi Mwanyali defended their national cross country championship titles today at Kamuzu academy golf course in Kasungu at the 2025 National cross coutry championship.

Simwaka successfully defended her national cross-country title, winning the senior women’s 10 km race she crossed the finish line in a record-breaking time of 37:56.42, setting a new national mark for the course and walked away with MK500,000.

Fostiner Mbemba of the Malawi Defense Force secured second place with a time of 38:50.22 to take home MK300,000 while Moneyi Chingaipe of Kalambe Club claimed third in 40:49.94 and pocketed MK200,000.

On the other Chikondi Mwanyali of Civo Athletics Club has been crowned the 2025 National Cross-Country Champion at Kamuzu Academy Golf Course in Kasungu after crossing the finish line in 31:24.91 and walked away with MK500,000.

With this victory, Mwanyali has successfully defended his national title for the third consecutive time.

Kefasi Kasiteni of the Malawi Defense Force secured second place with a time of 31:41.29 to take home MK300,000 while his teammate, Brave Mwamphathe, finished third in 31:45.22 and pocketed MK200,000.
