All is set for the 2025 National Cross Country Championship, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 15th, 2025, at the Kamuzu Academy Golf Course in Kasungu district.
According to Dennis Phiri, Athletics Malawi’s technical director, preparations for this year’s event are well underway, and they anticipate a very successful competition.
“We expect to have more than 200 athletes from across the country participating in the competition. The event aims to promote athletics nationwide and encourage healthy lifestyles, particularly among the youth. It will also serve as a key platform for talent identification to nurture future athletes,” explained Phiri.
The day’s events will include a 10 km race for senior men and women, an 8 km race for junior men, and a 6 km race for junior females. Athletes of all ages are encouraged to participate in the event.
Athletics Malawi warmly invites community members, sports enthusiasts, and all stakeholders to be a part of this event. The association also calls upon potential partners and sponsors to support the national cross country. Contributions will help cover event expenses such as water, prize money, and medals.
