Dec 23, 2024 | News

On Friday, 19 out of 20 participants completed the Athletics Basic Level 1 Coaching course, which was held at Loudon Primary School in Embangweni, Mzimba.

The week-long program, running from December 16 to December 20, 2024, was organized to equip participants with foundational skills in running, throwing, and jumping events. The initiative aimed to strengthen athletics coaching expertise within the district and contribute to the growth of grassroots athletics. Participants included both primary and secondary school teachers, as well as coaches from community athletics clubs in the area.

At the closing ceremony, Mr.Masautso Kause, the Primary Education Advisor (PEA) for the Ephangweni zone, encouraged the successful coaches to actively seek out outstanding athletic talent for potential national and international competitions. He also emphasized the importance of renovating the long-neglected Olympic-standard track and field facility available at Loudon Primary School.

The coaching course was facilitated by Mr. Dennis Phiri and Mr. Mike Banda, both certified instructors under the Coaching Education Certificate System (CECS) Level 2.

This initiative highlights MNCS’s commitment to fostering sports development across Malawi by empowering local coaches with the necessary tools to nurture athletic talent at the community level.
