The Hockey Association of Malawi has unveiled a 10-member delegation to represent Malawi at the upcoming International Hockey Federation (FIH) World Youth Hockey 5’s Festival, scheduled in Ipoh, Malaysia, from 17th to 21st December 2024.
The selected delegation will participate in a comprehensive development program that includes elite training camps, technical workshops, and competitive matches. The World Youth Hockey 5’s Festival is an initiative aligned with FIH’s strategic vision to strengthen emerging hockey nations through youth development and the promotion of Olympic values.
According to Wanthaza Mughogho, President of the Hockey Association of Malawi, this prestigious initiative represents a significant milestone in Malawi’s journey toward the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
“This program focuses on sustainable talent development pathways and will enhance Malawi’s competitive capabilities within the Youth Olympic Games framework. The association is confident that this experience will significantly contribute to the growth of hockey in Malawi and inspire future generations of athletes,” explained Muhgogo.
