Athletics Malawi (AM), with the support of World Athletics, has organized a national kids’ athletics event set to take place across three days: today, 18 October, Saturday, 19 October, and Friday, 25 October 2024. The event will be held in Kasungu, Mzuzu, and Balaka, respectively.
Speaking on the initiative, Athletics Malawi Vice President, Dennis Phiri, explained that the event will target children aged 5 to 14, who will participate in various athletic activities such as running, throwing, and jumping.
“The main objective is to bring excitement to the kids and develop them holistically through creative games involving running, jumping, and throwing. Additionally, it aims to build fundamental sports skills. We encourage parents to bring their children to participate, as there will be plenty of fun,” said Phiri.
In Kasungu, the event will take place at Kasungu Stadium, while in Mzuzu, the event will be at Katoto Ground, and on 25 October 2024 the event will be at Balaka Stadium. All events will start at 9:00 am.
