All is set for the much-anticipated U-15 Boys’ and Girls’ CAF African Schools Championship COSAFA qualifiers, which will take place from October 11 to 14, 2024, at Walvis Bay, Namibia.
This thrilling championship will bring together some of the region’s most talented young footballers as they vie for a coveted spot in the CAF African Schools Football Championship Finals next year.
Malawi finds itself in Group A, where it will face off against host nation Namibia, Zambia, and Lesotho. Meanwhile, Group B features powerhouses like South Africa, Zimbabwe, Angola, and Eswatini. The competition is expected to be fierce, with the top two teams from each group progressing to the semifinals, where they will battle for a place in the championship final.
Malawi will be looking to build on its impressive performance last year, when the boys’ team reached the final in Harare. In a dramatic conclusion, they narrowly missed out on the title, losing to South Africa on penalties. This year, the Malawian squad is eager to make amends and secure a spot in the finals.
The COSAFA qualifiers will take place at the Jan Wilken Stadium, a venue that promises to offer an electric atmosphere as these young athletes showcase their talents on the regional stage.
