The Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS) is pleased to announce the commencement of the first training camp for Team Malawi for AUSC Region 5 Youth Games. This edition of games will be hosted by Namibia in May 2025. This camp marks a critical step in preparing athletes for Namibia Games.

A total of 460 athletes, representing eleven sporting disciplines, will participate in this two-week camp at the Henry Henderson School of Excellence in Blantyre. The sporting codes include Football (both girls and boys), Athletics (mainstream and visually impaired), Netball, Basketball (boys and girls), Volleyball (boys and girls), Boxing, Judo, Karate, Table Tennis, and Lawn Tennis.

Athletes will be training at various sports facilities, including the Blantyre Youth Centre, Kamuzu Stadium, Mpira Stadium, HHS Multipurpose Hall, Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHES) Sports Complex and Phoenix. We have planned that each athlete will undergo comprehensive medical assessments to ensure they are fit during the camp.

This camp is the first of three planned camps in the lead-up to the Namibia Games. The second camp is scheduled for December 2024, and the final camp in April 2025.

The Malawi National Council of Sports further informs the public that specific measures have been put in place to ensure the safety and well-being of the athletes during the camp period.
